Well, its that time of year again - time for our little spidey friends to seek out a warm place to spend the winter. This little girl is missing one of her legs, but it should grow back after her next moult. Yes, spiders are pretty darn cool like that. If you want to hear the most awesome spider with missing legs story - let me know because I have it. Even though she is missing a leg - she still sent me on a wild chase across the ceiling. Missing only one leg doesnt slow them down any... let me tell ya. She did end up finding a comfy spot and settled down so I could take some better photos of her. She probably wont go very far from her spot, build a nice little sac to sleep in (which is why they are also called Yellow Sac Spiders) and cause no problems until she leaves in the spring again. She is a Black Footed Hunting Spider and will enjoy living in areas of your home with higher humidity - like the bathroom. She does not want anything to do with you and is not aggressive. All she wants is to hunker down somewhere warm and safe for the winter and then shell be gone again in the spring. She eats lots and lots of insects that are far more dangerous to us than she is. Please dont kill her.
