Well its time to respond to a public comment, I know you guys love it when get my soapbox out :) And I do this on Facebook hoping reach as many as possible.The Singer Showcase is NOT for those of you who think you are so special that you should be paid to sing a song. It IS for those who sing for the pure enjoyment of it. Once again the comment has been made in which someone insinuated that they would not do the Singer Showcase because it was a non-paying gig. First, it is not a gig. It is KARAOKE! It is an opportunity to share your talent, your gift with others. Many of you know that I was the KJ for Toby Keiths Bar & Grill in Oklahoma. One day a man walked up and ask to sing. I wasnt paying too much attention at the time. That man was Charlie Pride, who by the way had 39 number 1 hits. Funny, he never once inquired if it was a paying gig. He just wanted to perform for the guest. When you think that you are so good that you can not sing karaoke or share your talent unless there is money involved, you have sunk to the lowest level of gratitude and grace. My karaoke show and the Singer Showcase certainly isnt the place for you. I am more disappointed than anything that someone would think so high of themselves and yet not have even one album in publication. You can never know who may be present in the audience or who someone may know that could give you the BIG break. Its about having fun and sharing your gift. Get over yourself. Im done.
