Well, its yet another holiday, BUT, I will not bash this one. I simply can not. The reason is that I have a lot to be thankful for, and only a nutcase would bash something made up of the words Thanks and Giving!! Truth is, I have to plead ignorance on the nature of this holiday. Im not quite sure what it is yet, even after having arrived here on, incidentally, Thanksgiving day over a quarter of a century ago. I guess my confusion stems from the fact that it is not exactly a Christian holiday, as it is only celebrated here in the US, but its also not secular either as the thanks are presumably to god, Jesus, or some deity. A deity that, as far as I can tell, helped us kill millions of them, them being the natives, and steal their land. Clearly god/Jesus was not on the natives side, so they probably deserved thir fate. Perhaps that deity is even more on my side, as a naturalized citizen, since I get to enjoy the abundance of the land without any natives in sight. So, thank you for making that possible, whoever you may be. Now what better way to celebrate the lives of the original criminals and symbolize the massacre that followed, than to kill a bunch of helpless birds and devour their remains. So, since Im unable to find anything to criticize about this holiday, Im just going to say Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and enjoy those carcases.
