Well, it’s been a very bad day for me. I had to put down my 22-year-old cockapoo, Max today. Max had a very full life but over the last six months he was steadily deteriorating and I was spending quite a bit of time caring for him. He would never stop wagging his tail, except the last couple weeks when I could tell that he was in significant discomfort, and even though Ive always been able to pull him out of it with extra care, it was clear that this time he was not going to recover. This little guy is one of the finest creatures I have ever known and certainly was far better than most people I know. He was as pure and as true a friend as youll ever find. It was truly a joy to know him and his courage and resiliency over the last couple years as he aged and developed arthritis, liver problems, became blind, nearly deaf was truly amazing. He never gave up. He always got up in the morning, even though it was a struggle this last year, went out with the other dogs and did his business. He not only is one of the finest creatures Ive ever known but he was certainly one of my greatest inspirations. Max my friend, you will be missed dearly, but I will see you again soon. You are now with your brother Mickey and well all be together one day again soon.
