Well lets see if we cant clear the air about this diesel engine - TopicsExpress

Well lets see if we cant clear the air about this diesel engine debate. Going from oldest to youngest. (and yes Chevrolet - Isuzu Durajunk is left out on purpose) Navistar-International founded 1902 started putting diesel engines in passenger trucks in 1980 with their 6.9L engine in Ford trucks continued until 2011 when Ford put their own 6.7L diesel in the superduty trucks. (International is still putting their 6.4L and other diesel engines in their Med Duty Trucks) Ford Motor Company founded in 1903 some of its first engines were 2 & 3 cylinder diesels which were then replaced with gasoline engines due to lack of popularity. Began putting diesel engines back into passenger trucks in 1980 with Navistars 6.9L and continues to this day with the 6.7L in the SuperDuty trucks. Cummins Engine Company founded in 1919, began making industrial-commercial diesel engines in 1933, 1952 puts first diesel in 18 wheeler tractor-trucks, 1989 begins putting B series inline 6 diesels in Dodge trucks continues thru today with the 6.7L B series engine. Chrysler Corporation (parent company of Dodge Trucks) founded in 1925, to date has never manufactured their own diesel engine but has relied on companies such as Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, and Cummins to provide their diesel engines in passenger car-trucks. So it looks to me like the Navistar-Ford combination and Ford have been building diesel engines and putting them in passenger vehicles longer and better than any other American Auto - Truck manufacturer. Sorry guys but the numbers speak for their selves.....jus saying
