Well my oldest little monkey needs glasses, figured this out at - TopicsExpress

Well my oldest little monkey needs glasses, figured this out at home last time the boys were here. I had my laptop connected to the TV and had the on screen keyboard going and was typing, youngest started saying which letters I was clicking so I thought it was a good time to check their vision and quizz them. Found that my oldest had to walk up to about 6 feet away from the TV to be able to read any of the letters while both the youngest and I were able to read them from the dining table. I pulled up an eye exam chart to go a little more in depth with different sizes of letters to see what he could recognize and he wasnt able to read much at all farther than than 6 feet away. As suggested by my bro I gave him my glasses and quizzed him again and he was able to read more than half of the chart from the table. Called the next day and made him an appointment for today, we all had an eye exam today actually. His prescription was very close to mine and his glasses are being put together and possibly ready Monday. He picked LEGO brand glasses of course, blue and white, would have been Hotwheels if there was some I am sure. I tried to find an image online to share of what he had picked out but I cant find one thats the same, just red or black but not the blue and white. Not the glasses I was hoping hed pick but theyre not my glasses are they. Theyre a bit flashy, I was hoping hed pick something that was less bright but he has to want to wear them so it has to be up to him. Hell need to wear them all the time as well, his vision is pretty bad. I didnt suspect his vision to be this poor until recently, when he started complaining of sore eyes I originally thought it was the result of sensitivity to sunlight which hes had trouble with for a long time. Also headaches but thought that may have been a food sensitivity reaction since his diet is different from one home to the other. Lately though Ive had to start writing for him for his homework and also noticed that when he reads what Im writing his shoulder is getting in the way of the pencil when I write. Im a little sad hes going to have to deal with wearing glasses all the time but glad hes going to be able to do better with just about everything that involves seeing. So its definitely a big win for him, lots of improvement for him over the past couple of years with the dietary changes and now this should be another big step forward for him. Good stuff seeing your kids move forward and doing better than they once were... :D
