Well, my prediction about us sleeping most of Sunday was too close - TopicsExpress

Well, my prediction about us sleeping most of Sunday was too close to reality!! We had things we needed to do around the house, but the 3 of us were so exhausted we slept off and on the whole day. I cant say the day was wasted since we obviously needed the rest, but we didnt get the stuff done we needed to do! Oops! Tomorrow we go to Houston to meet with the radiation oncologists at MD Anderson. They have been on Taceys team since her diagnosis in Aug, so they are well aware of her history and the whole story. We were thinking all of this would happen after Christmas. However, the pathology came back with evidence of microscopic cancer cells throughout her nasal cavity. That means it is imperative we start radiation immediately. This has kind of sent us into a tizzy this past week, but we are feeling better about it now. We will know dates and details after tomorrow, but here is an outline of what we expect. Tacey and I will be moving into a motel or small apartment in Houston as soon as her radiation starts (probably the week of Dec 8th). This is going to be one of the biggest challenges for our family in this journey!! We are a trio! We are rarely separated, especially for any period of time. This is going to be difficult! We will be coming home on the week-ends or Michael will be coming to see us, however, we are all dreading those long weeks in between!! At this point, we have been told to expect to stay in Houston for 6-9 weeks. Our accommodations will be covered by insurance, so that is a PRAISE!! We will have a kitchenette so we can fix our meals, etc. Tacey has already requested I make a few things this week and freeze them to take with us. Her number one request.... Hopkins County Stew!!! Yes!!! Those who know my childhood understand my thrill at this! We have also sold Michaels vehicle as of today, so we have even more PRAISES!! That allows us to make sure the van gets all the maintenance it needs so it is safer for Michael to drive to and from Houston if he comes to visit. Thank you, God!! Be watching for a post tomorrow of an idea of how you can help us make this Christmas fun and special even though we will be away from our home and most of our family! We go back to Houston on Thursday for blood counts and probably transfusions. Taceys blood is responding quicker to the chemo and recovering slower each time. We are so used to her looking so white, we cant really judge her need for blood by her complexion any more. Hopefully, we can get all she needs in a timely manner on Thursday!!! The rest of this week I am frantically trying to make sure I have Christmas things ready, am packed for an extended period of time and have everything we might need to be comfortable in our new home away from home!! I have lists of lists!! LOL Knowing we will be home or Michael will be coming to visit every 5 days or so, helps me relax a little. We may need a Uhaul to move us back home after radiation! Thank you so much for your PRAYERS!!! This journey continues to be an adventure with lots of twists and turns!! Just as we think we are comfortable and in a routine, a detour is thrown in our path and away we go!! Using one of Taceys favorite quotes from Harry Potter, Fasten your safety belts, clench your buttocks! Its going be a bumpy ride! Thanks for sharing our bumpy ride with us and seat-belting us with PRAYERS!!
