Well, my wonderful Husband is learning a new skill today....how to tube feed a baby goat. Rubys new kids didnt figure out how to nurse well I guess. We are now able to bottle feed the paint but the black isnt catching on. Poor thing was almost passed away this morning (we thought he was actually gone). We had to bring his temp up as it was so low it wasnt even registering on the thermometer. Made the trip to town to try and find a tubing kit to use once his temperature was back up to a safe level. We brought them both inside and now have two house goats. Two tube feedings and a handful of bottle feedings and they are resting comfortable on the dog bed under the watchful eye of Buddy the JRT (who is surprisingly a very good nursemaid!!) NOTE: I advise you have a tubing kit on hand before you need it. If you never need it, at least it is pretty cheap and if you do need it you are way ahead of the game. It took us a trip to town and 45 extra minutes running around town trying to find one small enough to use on a newborn goat (the calf ones might work, but they are HUGE).
