Well now. As I mentioned four hours ago, half my seventy some-odd stats students flunked Exam 3 -- which I finished grading while bundled into blankets as our conservative-minded maintenance guy lit our furnace pilot light for the second time this week and said, If it goes out again Ill have to take that furnace apart and maybe replace something. I gave those students a Teacherly Talking To this afternoon... Meanwhile, while the pilot was going out last night we had a homicidal shooting up the road, and while Im grateful that it isnt being framed as an end-of-semester crazed student thing, it was still way too close to home for comfort. And then theres Other Stuff Going On, about which Ill certainly do my best to discern Gods will and help address. But in the end, I think we all need to take a page from Pete Seeger and sing a chorus or two of one of my Super Favorite Songs...
