Well now we’re up to an AT20 Extra, the song “The Time Of My Life.” It’s a song that was written by a House Husband, a Mr. Mom. The songwriter’s name is Regie Hamm and he has an interesting story. He was born in Nashville and by the time he was five year’s old, he was touring the country with his Pentecostal preacher father, playing drums with his band. Later, Regie got married. He and his wife adopted a child in China. Then they discovered that their child had a rare generic disorder. To help out, Regie put his career as a songwriter aside. He cared for his daughter, while his wife worked at Starbucks. One of the things daddy and daughter would do is watch American Idol, and when Regie heard about the American Idol songwriter competition, he decided to give it a try. He wrote a song about the joys of raising his daughter. Well the song Regie Hamm wrote for his daughter, went on to become a huge smash. In the summer of 2008, it went all the way to #1 on the AC Chart, giving singer-songwriter David Cook, his very first #1 on the AC Chart and it was all thanks to Regie Hamm, a stay at home dad, a Mr. Mom.
