Well, of course now that tonights Slidell Movie Nights was cancelled yesterday, we are going to have beautiful weather! A lot of people are asking why we had to cancel. Heres why: Slidell Movie Nights is possible because of the assistance the City of Slidells departments of Parks & Recreation, Public Operations and Cultural & Public Affairs, Leadership Northshore 2014 Team Hollywood and Olde Towne Slidell Main Street. Thats nearly 20 employees and volunteers who work to put together the screen and sound system, make sure the park is ready and help to setup and sell concessions. Yesterdays forecast predicted 40% to 50% chance (depending on which source, we consult 7 different sites) of thunderstorms in the afternoon and in the evening, just like weve had the rest of this week. Yesterday we had street flooding and the ground at the park was saturated (which isnt ideal for watching movies on the ground or for electrical wires for speakers). It takes nearly 8 hours to prepare the day of the event and we have only a small window to cancel concessions. Hope everyone understands. See you on August 2!
