Well, on Saturday we almost equalled the previous weeks unique occurrence when the number of runners matched the number of events at the Waterworks i.e. 197 runners on our 197th event – almost but not quite. A total of 199 runners crossed the finish line this week and included 10 first-time visitors along with several faces not seen for a while. We were delighted to see a couple of our regular runners making a return following injury, particularly Waterworks stalwart Billy Mol who although missed out on running over 40 parkruns due to his injury, continued to come along most weeks to volunteer or lend his support and encouragement to those that could run. Belated congratulations to Leonard O’Regan who completed his 100th parkrun on Saturday – apologies for not giving you a shout during the briefing Leonard, but I’ll make sure there is the celebratory shortbread at next week’s run. As usual, a hearty thanks to this week’s volunteers. Your efforts really are appreciated by all the runners. Saturday the 9th August will be our 200th parkrun, so if anyone has any ideas on how we could mark this please let us know. It would be a shame to let this milestone event pass without some form of celebration.
