Well said Eliza P Songstress - This is very bad. i still hear people say its a good thing for unemployed people to do workfare placements. So... how is it going to give anyone confidence working 30 hours a week, doing the same job as paid employees, but only getting £71 in benefits for it? Would that not give anyone low self esteem, would it not put them at the bottom of the pecking order within the company? Would they not feel isolated when they could not afford to go for lunch with their work colleagues? And just to top it all, even though they are working, they will still carry around that very real stigma of being unemployed If jobs need doing at the company, take the person on and pay them a proper wage!
