Well that sucks hard. Today I fell victim to the dreaded drop out of the sky after changing modes issue. Im up in Lake Tahoe on vacation and was looking forward to getting some amazing footage, but it looks like thats not going to happen now. I was about 50ft high, switched from Alt hold mode to stbl mode and it just dropped. I was at around 60% throttle when I did the change out of alt hold mode and as soon as it started to drop I went to full power, however it continued to drop with no change in power output. It bounced off some LARGE boulders taking a couple of my carbon fiber legs and crushing the tarot gimbal in the process. Only one prop was harmed ironically. I only have enough CF rod for one extra leg, and the gimbal is beat up, the cable plugs are all jacked up and not really reparable. To say Im upset is an understatement, Ive never had this issue before but heard of a few here that have had the same issue when switching modes. Im always very mindful when switching out of loiter or Alt hold mode regarding throttle input and have over 10-15 flights without issues. Im not debating on getting some Carbon Fiber rod and a new Gimbal shipped out overnight so I can try and get some footage or just scrap it. Sigh..... This is the location where Im at.
