Well, that was disappointing.. Just listened to Story of Light (2012) by Steve Vai. I was seriously awestruck when I heard Vai shred on a 6 or 7 string. Skimming over some of the tunes, nothing really grabbed my attention. John the Revelator coupled with Book of the Seven Seals is (I guess) Vai attempt at early gospel. Its aiight. I am not saying that he has lost his groove at all.. heck, he is Steve Vai. But, after I did NOTW, I now realize the technical glitz. Now, the the speed I do not have, but the phrasing and passion I have gotten my own voice.
