Well, the dust has settled on The Filthy 150 for another year. What an epic weekend for Irish CrossFit. With over 70 teams from every part of the country, and their hoards of supporters, the energy at this years event was just unbelievable. Firstly, to all competitors, coaches and supporters, a massive thank you for travelling to the event and making it what it was. You were all incredible and we really showed what Irish CrossFit was all about. We always knew the Sat was going to have a variety of levels of Community Teams, so we tried to program it so people of all levels could participate, but the best would still shine through in the end. I think we managed that. The Fitness and Performance Academy put on a great show with a dominant victory, followed by CrossFit Navitas and CrossFit DSC. It was also brilliant to see so many first-time competitors involved, and I think every single athlete can walk away with a lot of pride. The Sunday was intense. Very intense. Seeing the top tier athletes going out representing their boxes was something special. It seemed to bring out something different in people, there was a real fire in the room. It just showed how proud everyone is to represent their gym and their coaches. I think everyone is in agreement that the snatch ladder was the highlight of the day, with some massive performances Luke Ebron of CrossFit 8020 and Stephen Forbes of CrossFit Newry, who both topped the ladder with a double at 100kg. It came down to the final where Guerrilla Fitness needed a win to take an overall victory from CrossFit Northern Ireland. It was also pretty impressive to see CrossFit 8020 have two teams in the final. No mean feat when you look at the level of teams who didnt make it. A huge finish by Hilary and Brendan on the muscle ups got Guerilla over the line first to take first place and the outright win. I dont think anyone can dispute that they were deserved winners. From my own point of view, I am delighted with how it all went, and it was great to meet a few new people from around the country. I just want to thank all of our judges and volunteers for the massive effort they put in to get an event like this together. Everyone was very busy and under pressure, and still managed to smile their way through the weekend(apart from me!) and look after everybody so well. And finally, I just want to thank event co-organiser Alan Fitzpatrick. Hes some man for getting things done. I think a partnership works best when both people are good at what the other person is terrible at. Myself and Alan are like chalk and cheese, and thats why it works. Cheers buddy. Until next year!
