Well the end of the summer has arrived and where did it go!! We gathered up a crew, and headed out on the SeaDonkey out of OBX Marina. Punched Oregon Inlet as the sun was making its appearance. Fishing was slow for sure. When the Charter Fleet Captains are talking nonstop on the radio about new chairs, running out of food, and Little League baseball games on ESPN, you know it is slow. Grass was scattered everywhere, and there were some big beds, but no Mr. Mahi under, or near them. We trolled, and trolled and then finally we got a hit on the planer rod. I reeled it in, and it was my friend ole Mr. Wahoo!!!! On the drone spoon. Continued to troll and tossed some topwater plugs at a couple of schools of Skipjack Tunas, and managed to get a few of them. Skipjack are always fun to catch, and I love to stock up on them because they are a great bait for Mahi. Skipjack is also an excellent bait to take on a bottomfishing trip, or for fishing from the surf in the fall. We cut our trip short when we heard a Marine Warning over the radio, and saw the thunderheads in the west. Better safe than sorry! Got in without incident, and when we got outside the Inlet we saw a school of Fat Alberts popping the surface. After chasing them for a while I finally hooked one, and we headed in. Although it was my last trip offshore before school starts Monday :-( at least we had a good ride in and out and we didnt get skunked. After this weekend I am a weekend fisherman until next June! I have to look at my TrollPro footage and see what was happening underwater. If you dont troll a TrollPro you should because not only is the footage fun to watch, you may learn something about the fishs behavior while in your baits. #jakeslastsummertrip #trollprocaputuretheexcitement #underarmourfishing #williamsontopwaterplugs
