Well, the great thing about being confined to the sofa for a while is that I have time to read lots of wonderful books! This weeks treasures so far have been two very different books. The Long Road to Bagdhad by Catrin Collier is a very powerful, meticulously researched 610 page novel about conflict between the British, Bedouin and Turks in Mesopotamia in 1914, at the outbreak of World War I. Its steeped in history and a great deal of cultural knowledge. Love, loss, redemption, cruelty, loyalty and the horrors of war are the threads that tie together the stories of the central characters. amazon.co.uk/Long-Road-Baghdad/dp/1909840858/ref=asap_B001HOYHWU?ie=UTF8 And today I peer-reviewed Your Dog and You by Gill Garratt, a human psychologist whos done plenty of research into dog psychology. The book comes out in 2015 and is about how our emotional and mental states profoundly affect our dogs - and how we can use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help ourselves through stressful times so that our relationships with our dogs arent put under pressure.
