Well, the outlook is getting better. There is no denying that the last couple of weeks have been pretty good in the markets, and yet our market outlook has not changed. It is still showing market in correction. However, the needle could be moving. Last week, we mentioned that we had dipped our toe in the water through an equity ETF (small allocation of portfolio), and it has performed. We are looking for a tipping point that will convince us to move more money into the growth portfolios. Historically, the tipping point has been higher volume on an up day in an index. That are subtle shifts going on underneath that big picture indicator including stocks making new highs and the growth stocks leading the way. The NASDAQ reached a new closing high on Tuesday while the Dow and the S&P have lagged a bit. That could all change today with the market up triple digits on the opening. According the Cabot Market Letter ( I really like those folks), there is a shift toward the smaller, “growthier” stocks, and that is the playing field that is usually pretty fertile. All that being said, this is no time to mortgage the ranch. These markets are volatile and can shift on a dime. This will never be easy; it never has been. However, it does appear that perhaps there is an ongoing shift in momentum.
