Well, this is one really, really happy day - our boy Rocky (now Bodhi) finally went home. He wasnt easy for us to rehab - he had lots of special needs but it was clear that he is a very smart, very loving, very gentle boy - and he was worth every second of time spent. He had many wonderful people ask to take him home but, because he needs a certain environment to thrive, we waited for the right one. And today was his day. Pics are of Rocky looking back at York as we were leaving on his LAST freedom ride - because our boy was headed home. His wonderful new mom - Monique, sent this note tonight: Please share with all Red Dog staff that Rocky whom now is learning to respond to a new name of Bodhi , is doing GREAT his first night. We have had plenty of redirection and he did challenge a bit but nothing that we had not anticipated. Bodhi took a nap in his new crate, ate dinner, then went for a leashed walk and then was let out in our fenced in yard to run off leash a bit. This pic is the end result of his busy first day of adjustment. He initially was a little hyper in his new environment and needed to learn that playing is for outside environment only not inside as having another dog off leash inside challenged him. But we stood our ground and he learned very quickly. He is fitting right into our family. He is a joy and soooo sweet! We will keep in touch! Rescue is a lot of work and its a lot of work for many, many people involved - congratulations to the women of York who tore their hair out learning how to communicate with this boy - but it was worth every strand!
