Well this is the last day of February and there are many great people who I did not have time to mention. So I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge a few of them. Again, my goal this past month was to honor those who had positively impacted my life in one way or other. You dont have to be an inventor or a world leader to be great, all you need is a wiliness to serve others with a desire to bring opportunity, hope and change. TONIGHTS BLACK HISTORY HONORS BELONG TO: Coach Dinkins: Little league coach in FarRockaway, Queens New York. Mr. Dinkins probably was the first outside of the school, to give kids an opportunity to participant in organized sports which taught us how to operate as a team. A characteristic that is vital in lifes task. Rev. Melvin C. Walker: radio personality and gospel promoter. Melvin C. Walker created opportunities for aspiring gospel artist to be showcased and recorded. A true icon in the gospel world. Stanley Brown: musician/record producer/major recording label executive. At the age of twelve Stanley Brown was already one of New York Cities greatest musician. It was obvious that Stanley was destined for greatness. Mr. Stanley Brown gave me my first opportunity at the age of 17 to work with a major recording artist (salt & Pepper). Kelly Price: Singer/Song Writer/t.v. personality. Kelly Price has made us all proud. She came from humble beginnings and has excelled to achieving great things. Rev. Mario Reese: Pastor/Choir director. Mario Reese gave many young people from all over New York Metro area to come together and exercise and perfect their gifts. Mario Reeses Arverne Community Choir birthed some of Musics finest contributor such as Kelly Price, Aaron Hall, Darryl Adams, Crystal Johnson, Ed White, Earl The Bass Man White and many, many more. Bonz Malone: Artist/columnist/actor. Bonz Malone, one of New Yorks graffiti kings took his talent to the record labels and to the big screen. Co-starring in movies such as life with Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, and Shaft with Samuel L. Jackson. BIG UPS to my graffiti partner Bonz Malone. Earl The Bass Man White: musician/recording artist. My brother Earl White has awed audiences for as long as I can remember. At 12yrs old with a mic in his hand he was a show stopper and later on in his teen years he was not only known as a great vocalist but also one of New Yorks finest bassist. Earl lead his gospel singing group Victory to the mainstream and became one of New Yorks first gospel groups to land a recording contract with a major label. Earl The Bass Man White has toured all over the world with artist such as R&B sensation JOE, SURFACE, and the legendary KOOL AND THE GANG, just to name a few. These are just a few of the many people who I have been fortunate enough to know and learn from there is not enough time to mention them all. GOD BLESS BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HELPING MAKE BLACK HISTORY!!!
