Well this was a nice comment: I just came from The Lydia Mendelssohn Theater in Ann Arbor where I had the pleasure of watching Ann Arbor Civic Theaters production of BONNIE AND CLYDE. This brilliant show, with music and lyrics by Frank Wildhorn, has been lovingly and diligently staged by the able cast and crew to such extremes as to be one of the finest pieces of musical theater I have ever seen. The uniformly gifted cast is a treat from A to Z. Each performer is a delight and when working in tandem with the others becomes part of an ensemble of rare and refreshing poise. While I was taken with all four of the lead performers, the standout, Kimberly Paige Elliot in the role of Bonnie Parker, was the jewel in the crown of this show. Miss Elliots confidence and spot on interpretations are exceeded only by a voice that is box office gold. Her rendition of How Bout A Dance? floats above the audience with a magic that is like diamonds and starlight combined. Indeed, every time she sang her audience was spellbound. Just as enchanting were her duets with her equally gifted Clyde Barrow. (Clydes bathtub love song was nothing to sneeze at! A genuine WOW.) The only thing wrong with this show is the fact that it is not playing indefinitely. Sadly, A2CT is only giving four performances of this show and three have come and gone. There is but one performance left for Sunday, January 18th. I am hoping that through my tagging of this FB post someone will attach the performance time and ticket purchasing information. If you are a musical theater devotee clear your schedule. See it.
