Well this was an interesting morning! Dogs woke me up going ballistic, so I head outside, and this is what I see. A poor deer with her head tangled in an old fence. She was moaning and kicking away, and clearly had been there for some time. She was also pretty big, and I was concerned she might kick the crap out of me, but went and got cutters anyway. A few strategic cuts, and she was loose. I think she was surprised to be free because she flew back, tumbled a bit, and then just stood there for a second completely bewildered before walking off. Her cuts looked pretty superficial, so I think shell be ok. Part of me wanted to call Fish and Game, but those a-holes usually just shoot the poor animal, so I figured it was worth a shot. Ahhh, life in the canyon.
