Well to top off my birthday I enjoyed an evening hunt where I had been busted earlier that morning. I made the change I needed to and well the 9 deer returned. I had been watching this particular one to harvest so when I had the shot I wanted I released my arrow. At 20 yards you hear the sound you want, you get the kick and jump reaction you want. I find the through and through arrow covered in my favorite color so with that said the excitement of harvesting my first deer this year sets in. I start to look for the trail I need to find my deer and there is no sign anywhere. I look and look and really start to get discouraged. I went back several times from the start but with 9 deer running in the same direction it was very hard to come up with which direction to look. After several hours and finally my hunting buddy Cary Marta had shown up to help track we came up on the first trail almost 75 yards away from where I shot. The trail got even better as we walked back in forthup and down in and out of the thick brush until finally we see where my harvested deer lay 200 yards from where I shot. It was a perfect heart shot and the deer ran on pure adrenalin. I must say that in the end with the help of an older wiser tracker, lmao, it was a great birthday present, the first harvested deer for 2013!!!! Backstrap steaks and breakfast sausage soon to be enjoyed!!!!!
