Well today did not go as planned. Gabe was going for his routine clinic visit and he also had a CT scan scheduled. They had to put an IV in for his CT scan and they were not able to. Let me start by saying its not the nurses fault everyone at MUSC is great. However, after sticking him twice we decided its best to try again at a later date. This was to check his heart, the pulmonary veins and arteries. It is such a traumatic experience for him to get poked, his heart rate sky rockets, oxygen drops and he pours sweat because he gets VERY upset. We then went up for his clinic visit. They decided to try Gabe out on some steroids because hes been sick over 3 weeks and hes having a hard time getting over it. He sounds horrible and its in his upper airway and making it harder for him to breathe. Well, doc recommended he be admitted into the hospital yet again to monitor how he does on the steroids. I wasnt expecting this at all. We just got home. So of course I broke down. We once again have to split our family up. I know its what is best for Gabe but its still extremely hard on us. They attempted to get another IV in him to draw labs, they were able to draw some blood but he was so upset he literally sweat the IV right out. They ran another panel test and it again came back negative. They started him on the steroids and I am praying it helps. He sounds so horrible. I wish I could make him better. In between pokes and vitals he has snuggled with Mommy. I have not taken my hands off him. I hold him so close to my heart I never want to let go. Today was extremely rough for Gabe and for me emotionally. Please continue to pray for Gabriel for his healing. Will update as soon as I can. Thank you all.
