Well, today was day one of celebrating my 75th birthday (which is this coming Tuesday). My friend Karen and her sweetie, Harold, took me to lunch at Olive Garden where I enjoyed Minestrone Soup with Salad and Bread Sticks. Yummy. Then it was off to the local Quilt Show that is held annually. With Hugo Blue giving me support (my walker), I enjoyed the show. Bought a DVD of the entire show with slides of the quilts. 3 pieces of pink and white polka dot fabric and a special ruler for making sashings. After that I was plumb wore out. Came home and took a nap. On a sadder note, out friend, Bev is here at the house with us. She has cancer and is terminally ill. I don’t know that she will last much longer, but we could not leave her in the hospital with no one to be there for her. She is home with us and her kitty, Grumby. We have a hospital bed in the living room and Mark will sleep in there at night with her on the couch. Joyce and I will be doing what we can to make her comfortable and relaxed so her passing will go easily. We do have nurses and hospice. I had originally planned to have an open house Birthday Party for my 75th, but I have postponed it until a later date. I never regret giving up my time to be there for someone else in need. It’s how my parents raised me. I have been a caregiver of some sort most of my life. Mark has steaks for my birthday dinner this week. I will enjoy them. Looking forwarding to celebrations this coming year will be the Open House Party, a monthly trip out to dinner at a different restaurant, quilting with friends, and whatever else tickles my fancy. And becoming a Great-Grandma in May.
