Well todays the day, in a few hours I will be admitted to the hospital to begin the final stage of treatment. I feel very confident I have made the correct choice in HSCT but time will tell. The last 8 years have been a roller coaster ride and Im ready to get off. It started with me breaking both my wrists which lead to a lot of physical therapy and I still cant turn my left arm correctly. Then my balance issues started and I went from a salary Forman at a job I felt I was good at to a entry level position with a babysitter. That was hard on the ego so after talking to my Nero I took his advice and left a job I had worked for 15 years and applied for disability. I started to need a cane to walk then a walker and now a scooter I tried every treatment, drug, or diet I could get my hands on with varying degrees of failure. I have been curious about stem cells for awhile and after a form of treatment I was all in on was turned down in the USA my current Nero at the Cleveland clinic told me about a treatment they were doing at Northwestern and I should look into it. Well after all my failures I was skeptical so it took about 6 more months of research and seeing the results for me to apply. It seemed to take forever to get in but in actuality it went very fast and Kimberly Yaung has been in constant contact throughout the process her and Kimberly Bracy as well as the rest of the staff have been excellent in bringing me this far and I would like to say THANK YOU to them and my parents for helping me get here and everyone for your support and well wishes. If this just stops the progression of the MS I will consider it a success everything else is icing on the cake but after seeing all the success people have had post transplant it allows me to dream of so much more!!!!!!!!
