Well, tomorrow is Father’s Day. Just as I couldn’t be with - TopicsExpress

Well, tomorrow is Father’s Day. Just as I couldn’t be with Terri to celebrate her special day, so she won’t be here for me on mine. But I don’t mind anymore; the end of our time apart is near. In exactly seven days I’ll shake the dust of this little town from my feet and head to Missouri to reunite with my wife and family. And so one chapter of my book ends and the next will begin. I will say goodbye to my in-laws Friday night; if I wake up at 3:30 Saturday morning like I’ve been doing lately I might as well head out of Dallas while there’s no traffic. It would be nice if I can get to Missouri in time to have dinner with Terri & Jordan. I’ll still have my Father’s Day; it’ll just be one week late. I know I haven’t left yet, but I wanted to give a special shout-out to my in-laws, Claudia and Lee. It would’ve been one thing to ask them to put the three of us up for a short time, like they did when our last house was being built. But even though Terri & I are approaching the 20-year mark, Mom & Dad Liv. are still Terri’s parents and not mine. As great as they are, we were asking them to put their son-in-law up by himself, without their daughter or grandchild in the bargain. That’s the biggest reason I tried to make myself scarce; it wasn’t that I didn’t want to be around them but rather I didn’t want to wear my welcome out, especially since none of us knew exactly how long I’d have to stay. Now that I’m about to leave I want them to know how much I appreciate what they did not just for me, but by extension Terri & Jordan as well.
