Well tonights T20 at Shelford wrapped up a successful couple of days cricket for the Shelford Cricket Club. On Saturday in the Firsts we hosted Little River. Captain Mick Lymer won the toss and elected to bat. As usual Jack Maclean and Luke Turner got us off to a nice little start before we lost Jack (14). That brought Shane Lymer to the crease. Several batsman fell around Shane. Luke Turner (19) the first to go, our new gun recruit from Bell Post Hill Ben Muir (11) on debut for the Bullants went next and Mick Lymer (9) Shane and Pete Lynch put on a nice little partnership hitting quick runs over the closing overs. Shane Lymer finally being bowled for a well compiled 121 which included 12 fours and 5 sixes. The first century for the Bullants for the year and hopefully not the last. Benny Turner (0) got bowled in the final overs. Pete Lynch being bowled on the final ball of the innings for a quick 47 which also included 5 fours and 2 sixes. Jack Connelly ended up 1 not out. The score ending on 7 for 239 off 45 overs. Our bowlers then went on to do the job with the ball. Jack Maclean 2/21 off 7 overs and Mick Lymer 2/21 off 8 overs the pick of the bowlers. Ben Turner 1/12, Pete Lynch 1/29, Bon Southall 1/16 and the clubs new leg spinner Ben Muir claimed his first wicket for the club, finishing with 1/44. Little River finishing on 8/157 off 45 overs. A 82 run victory to have the First sitting undefeated and equal top on the ladder. ********************************************************************************* In the thirds we played Little River at their home ground. Doug Clarke winning the toss and electing to bat. Will Rice and Angus Maclean opened the batting and got things off to a really nice start. They took their time and batted some overs before losing Angus (3) had the score 1/29. Enter VC Mark Hampshire, him and Will Rice went about putting on a nice ittle partnership before losing Will Rice on a well compiled 31. Justin Coombe was in next. He joined Mark Hampshire for another nice partnership before he lost his wicket for 23. Scott Sharman fell shortly after for 6. Mark Hampshire went on to make a very valuable 75 which included 9 fours and 1 six. Ricky Kennedy adding to his goos start to the year, making another 31. Doug Clarke not out on 6. A nice total of 6/181 off the 40 overs. The boys then went on to do the job with ball. Restricting Little River to just 102 off the 40 overs. Stars with the ball were Justin Coombe 3/10 off 8 overs. Doug Clarke 3 for 13 off 6 overs. Ricky Kennedy 2/24 and Angus Maclean 1/10 were the other wicket takers. A very good win for thirds and their first for the year. Well done guys. Hopefully we can build from that. ********************************************************************************** Tonight we seen the first of the T20 games get underway around Geelong. Shelford played hosts to Corio Cricket Club. Captain Mick Lymer won the toss and elected to bat. Luke Turner and Jack Maclean opened as usual. Jack the first to go on 13, Luke shortly after on 9. Shane Lymer made a quick fire 29 before being caught. Enter Jack Connelly fresh from Lambys Sunday night. He come in and put on display of hard hitting finishing with a quick 56 from 41 balls which included 6 fours and 1 six. Ben Muir (3), Ricky Kennedy (0) and Ben Turner (11) were nest to go. Mick Lymer showed some fight at the end for a quick 26. Kirk Matheson fell for a golden duck. Scott Baumann (5 not out) and Jayden Ettridge (3 not out) closed out the 20 overs for us with a final total of 9/169 Corio got off to a flying start and had the boys on the ropes early. After 8 overs they were sitting on 1/70 and well on target to chase down the runs. Jayden (2 for 20) picked up a couple of wickets to slow things down before Shane Lymer (1 for 15) picked up the key wicket which slowed the run chase down. However the star with the ball and probably man of the match Ben Turner finished the job, ending the night with figures of 4 for 6 off 2 overs. He would have had 5 for 5 off 2 overs, had it not been for Ben Muirs soda that he dropped at first slip. Others to get wickets were Mick Lymer 1/34 and Scott Baumann 1/5. Corio were all out for 109 with 3 overs to spare. A good couple of days for the Shelford Bullants. 3 wins from 3 games. This week the firsts play Bell Park at Shelford. The thirds play Bell Park at Bell Park Good luck, GO BULLANTS
