Well, unless the Lord says otherwise, today marked our last day in - TopicsExpress

Well, unless the Lord says otherwise, today marked our last day in the park. While I will miss the lakefront setting, we are excited about starting up at the new property. Next Sunday we will be hosting worship at our new house. We look forward to finally transitioning into this long-anticipated phase with our church family. Now is probably as good a time as any to share a couple of ideas that we embrace as a body of believers. I promise not to be too long-winded, but I really feel compelled to share these things as we look forward to the future. First, Shepherds Heart Church shares a belief that worship is a family affair and that families should experience the joy and enrichment of worshiping our Lord together. This means kids are included. It also means kids sitting with their families and even participating in our time of worship. Weve come under the conviction that splitting up our families and sending our kids off to a separate service just doesnt promote the kind of closeness and unity we desire. Yes, it requires a little extra effort, discipline and training on everyones part. But going to church together doesnt mean just being at the same address for an hour or two every Sunday. Directly related to that, we also believe it is the role of the parent to share our faith with their children. Moms and dads should be devoting time and energy to instructing their kids in Biblical truth and the basic doctrines of Christianity. This job is so critically important, it shouldnt be shuffled off to someone else! Finally, we believe the church model described in Acts 2:42-47 is not exclusive to that time in history. We believe this is THE church model shared with us as an example applicable throughout the ages. Specifically, we believe that the Church is a family. Families dont just meet once a week for one hour and then go home until the next week. Families are involved in one anothers lives. We want to encourage this in every way we can. That means breaking bread together, spending time with one another in fellowship outside of corporate worship... and more. I would love to keep going, but I promised not to be long-winded. So Ill close here with an invite. Join us in the coming weeks as we transition into our next step. We would love to have you along for the walk!
