Well usually dont post our daily Music Box tunes on Sunday, but, since were also featuring the 31 days of Halloween, well make an exception for the next few weeks. That feature will be coming up shortly in another post. Our Music Box song today comes from The Diamonds, with one written by Maurice Williams, when he was the leader of The Gladiolas. (The Gladiolas would go on to become Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, who had a number one hit in 1960 with Stay. The Gladiolas released the original version in January of 1957, reaching #11 on the R & B charts, but only reaching #41 on the pop survey. The Diamonds version was released a month later and immediately became a pop hit ... shooting to number two, and remaining there for eight weeks ... kept off the top spot by Elvis Presleys, All Shook Up. Tomorrow, a pair of brothers pay their first visit to the Music Box.
