Well we finally know what the Republican Party means when they say Take our country back. They mean Back to a government which dictates the roll and limits to a womans rights. Back to a time when College education was reserved for the wealthy. Back to a time when people of color found it difficult if not impossible to vote due to strict voting laws. Back to a time when a worker had NO say in his working conditions, pay or benefits. Back to a time when a factory could pollute the ground and water system in an area with impunity. Back to a time when it was impossible for a family to OWN the house they lived in. Back to a time when the elderly had no safety nets for health care except to be a burden on family. In 2011, a new movement to change the way we vote is underway. Unlike past reforms that sought to expand access to voting, this effort aims to restrict voting purely for partisan gain: In 2011, Republicans control both chambers in 26 state legislatures—21 of those states also have GOP governors. The GOP has bet the next election on a legislative movement intended to defeat President Obama and Democrats by changing the rules that govern our elections. Republicans have introduced laws in at least 40 states that would make voting more difficult for everyone—especially for voters who supported President Obama and other Democrats in 2008. If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.
