Well we got a bit of good news and bad news at the oncologist - TopicsExpress

Well we got a bit of good news and bad news at the oncologist today. Good news... the cancer is finally responding to the chemo and is starting to shrink!! The bad news.. Dr Chua told us that new rules have just been passed within the last 2 weeks that limits Medicare to only covering 3 PET scans in a lifetime. If you dont know what that means, PET scans are the only way Doctors have to know if certain types of cancers are dead or still active. Momma had her 3rd one last week, so now, after this last series of treatments, we will have no way to know if the treatments are continuing to work or not. No way to know at what point we could start Maintenance chemo. I really wish I knew who to write, where to start a campaign to express how unfair this is to the who knows how many people this is going to effect. What if something pop up a year down the road in a different area? Shes out of luck because she has had her 3. How crazy is that? It seems the government is caring less and less about the patient and more and more about the might dollar. I guess a persons life doesnt have much value to them?
