Well, we got up this morning....fed the dogs....let Murphy have time to run around in the yard....then I took him aside and told him that I KNOW he tried his best to fit in while he was here with us, but that he is probably better off not having to dodge our Great Dane Sherlock and his aggressiveness......I took the paper work we got when we adopted him last week and wrote very good comments on it about how well he would do in a family with either smaller dogs or no other dog at all.....he just panicked when the large dogs came at him, especially Sherlock and his silliness......there was a huge dog fight in our living room last night and Murphy tried to defend himself and bit Sherlock....then our quiet old Lab who is the pack leader here tried to break the fight up and HE got 2 pretty bad bites out of it......Billy then made the decision that though Sherlock really does need another dog to play wioth, Murphy was just too passive to be that playmate......and we found that the more comfortable he had become here, the more aggression he would show...the teeth, the growl, last night the attack. Sadly, we loaded the boy up and drove him all the way to Columbia, KY back the the farm rescue he came from and I cried all the way home to Rineyville....I just feel that we did Murphy so wrong....taking him to give him a great home, then returning him for defending himself......I pray he will be alright there and that someday, someone will adopt him and be able to make him a perfect life. Was just a sad day....for everyone..Doctoring the dogs bites and just trying to forget the look on Murphys face when we took him back inside that gate we were told to put him in......chemo tomorrow morning early....then babysitting maybe if I feel alright. I know this is a BOOK instead of a post but many have messaged me wondering why I am blue.....just wanted everyone to know the truth.
