Well we more than 75% through the home and away rounds. I have several questions. Perhaps the the first group of questions concern the pathetic efforts of channel 7 to promote the SANFL. Who monitors the Channel 7 coverage of SANFL games? What does the SANFL think about the coverage so far? I thought one of the aims of changing to channel 7 was to promote the SANFL clubs through the telecast. If this was to be done fairly and evenly then each club would have a least three but no more than four of its games televised by channel 7. This is not the case. Up to and including round 14 this is the distribution. 5 games telecast - Adelaide, South Adelaide, Port Adelaide 4 games telecast - Glenelg 3 games telecast - no clubs 2 games telecast - Central District, Norwood, Woodville West Torrens 1 game telecast - North Adelaide, Sturt, West Adelaide. With four rounds to go, three clubs have already had more than their fair share of televised games and one club with its fair share. What a total farce. Eight of the games telecast to the end of round 14 see the two AFL RESERVES teams being shown, that is 58% of the games show the AFL clubs (not double counting the times they played each other and have been or will be televised). This is promoting the league and each club? Whats more they play each other twice with both games telecast! WHY?! Channel 7 has stuck to one part of the agreement by showing one game per round. Great, two split rounds so two weeks show no game at all. Who is running this show and who hasnt thought it through? Yet another glaring example or how the SANFL Commission is privileging the two AFL RESERVES teams over the other eight clubs. The SANFL itself is destroying this league and hold the long time SANFL supporters in total contempt. I would like them to please do something about this. This AFL RESERVES experiment is a disaster for eight of the ten clubs. A second set of questions arises from the salary cap. Eight clubs have a salary cap of about $350 000. If the two AFL reserves teams have their players run onto the ground in descending order of player contract, how many Adelaide and how many Port Adelaide players have to set foot on the ground before each team exceeds the salary cap of the team they are playing against? My estimate is somewhere between five and seven players. Depending on the players it may be as low as three players some weeks. This is fair across the competition? Not Happy John and Leigh. Not Happy at All.
