Well, well, Jazz by the Pool in the Garden and partly in the rain did happen at Castle Herriot and what a crowd pitched up (just short of 70 eventually) some even as early as 3:30pm. We had visitors from Hermanus and Cape Town and naturally the aficionados from Stanford. Patrons listened intently, braaied seriously, drank copiously, ate satisfyingly and cheered loudly. As soon as the power came on at 4:20pm it was non-stop music from the enhanced Jazzfordian Team including our guest sax/flute player Miso Markovina. The Hat Competition to Music to Watch the Girls By was hugely enjoyable where the girls, with an unbelievable selection different hats, danced and paraded before the guys. The venue at the Castle was a big hit especially with the younger generation and the liberal use of dive-bombing in the pool. I have to thank profusely and lovingly Cathryn, my wife and soul mate, who designed the setting attentively making sure throughout that visitors were comfortable and able to do their thing and be relaxed for the whole event. A big thank you must go to the public who decided to come along knowing that the weather was unpredictable and in fact the few drops of rain caused no problems. Stanford Hills generously provided huge support with tables and a gazebo. Finally a big thank you to the Jazzfordian singers who quietly get on with their rehearsals every week to ensure true professionalism. We will be attending the Stanford Hills Stumble on the 29th from midday and if the moment is right perhaps a couple of jazz standard songs will be heard. We will all be attending the Music on the Lawn on Saturday 13th December for 6pm which will take place this year at Castle Herriot, 9 Adderley Street, Stanford under the tutelage of SAWS (Animal Welfare). All Jazzfordians are taking part in this years Stanford Players music and dance stage production, 17, 18, 20 December. YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO JOIN US AND LIKE THIS. More photos still to come.
