Well, well, well. I just off the telephone with the Wal-Mart Market Manager for the metro Philadelphia area. An executive with the company saw my Facebook post and was proactive in addressing my concern by forwarding it to him. The market manager (MM) sent me an email with his personal mobile. I called him back and he actually answered the line. (Pretty impressive!) The MM confirmed my suspicion that Customer Service should be open as long as the store is open. ;-) We talked through all that had happened. The long and short is that he will be reminding the store management of the procedures they already have in place so that this, hopefully, doesnt happen again. He apologized and offered to send me a gift card since I had such an unfavorable experience. I feel that when you mess up and try to make it right, that deserves to be acknowledged. So I say, good on ya, Wal-Mart!
