Well, well, well. Surprise, surprise. Once again our illustrious - TopicsExpress

Well, well, well. Surprise, surprise. Once again our illustrious Association, of which I am a member in good standing, has conveniently dismissed, disregarded, and or ignored the disabled members of our community. This is according to the “Americans with Disabilities Act” which was signed into Federal Law in 1990, and was also adopted by the state of Michigan. Our illustrious board members have once again failed to include this act in our governing documents, and have decided to remain non-compliant with the law. This act of non-compliance directly effects we the disabled members of this community by excluding those of us with disadvantages from being able to participate in all actions of the Association. As a one time member of our “by-laws revision committee”, I personally authored a section of our by-laws which included the ADA provisions. A certain idiot member of that committee, and now conveniently a board member, has decided not to include any of my research and hard work based solely on a personal conflict I have with her. I’m sure if her particular “disability” were covered in that act, which it is not, she would have made sure to include it in our governing documents. I’m sure it was left out based solely on our shared dislike of one another. Not only that, but the documents we are supposed to be voting on were given to me in printed form. It MUST be given to me in a medium that I, a blind individual, is able to not only read, but also vote on. This not only goes against the provisions of the ADA, but is also a blatant discrimination against a certain group of individuals. Even if that group only consists of one or two members. Additionally, there are absolutely no handicapped accessable accommodations provided anywhere in this community such as wheelchair ramps, accessable doors. Parking spots, or anything else. This leaves me no alternative but to forward my concerns to the States Attorney Generals office which may lead to a sizable fine due to their 20 plus year history of non-compliance. Personal issues have no place in a situation that is supposed to be the business of the association. Set your childish behavior aside, and do the job you were elected to do. If not, resign your seat and let a grown-up do the job you obviously can’t do. Let the shit fall where it may. Just sayin…
