Well, well, well all roads led back down to the Juici Patti - TopicsExpress

Well, well, well all roads led back down to the Juici Patti Complex (Clarendon Park) on the 21st of November 2014 for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. The 1st time we went there the Clarendon College footballers were playing the semi-finals of the Ben Francis against St. Elizabeth Technical High School. It didn’t end in our favour as they were 6-5 winners on penalty. They went on to play Glenmuir High and beat them in the final. But we are not talking about that because that’s in the past and the past must stay behind us. We went back to the Juici Complex because, yes the ballers were in another semi-finals but it was not for the Ben Francis or any other cup it was for the Dacosta Cup and it was not against STETHS but against Glenmuir High. The main man of the day was Patrick “Jackie” Walters as he was the coach who was in charge when Glenmuir took the title in 2012 but now he is at Clarendon College. The 1st chance of the match was awarded to Clarendon College through the lights of Creggton Charlton (Creggy) who did not do well with it. Then the Glenmuir team was lucky when Kemoy Carruthers (Ziggy) slammed one to the goal but it was just kicked off the goal line by a Glenmuir player. In about the 86th minute of the match, Andrew Gutzmore (Kenya) settled the ball and hammered it off the left foot towards goal and just when we taught that it would go over the cross bar, the ball started to give Konchens some ratings “I’m coming, I’m coming” and the net started to advocate for Sam Smith “Why won’t you stay with me” and when we looked the ball was relaxing in the back of the net and a spectacular goal was created. The crowd grew wild and the horns echoed on and around the complex. The C.C. flag waved high in the sky and the Glenmuir supporters became as silent as lambs, and to put the icing on the cake, it was Andrew’s 1st goal of the season. While the Clarendon College supporters were jumping up and enjoying themselves as we taught that the game will be over and crown us the victors, Glenmuir pulled back a slick goal on the last minute of play. That made the C.C. supporters quiet and the ground with the Glenmuir peoples started to rage. Because of the 1-1 draw, the game went into extra time. In the first half of the extra time, it was Creggton Charlton (Creggy) again. He took the ball and ran down the field ready to seal the deal when one Glenmuir player saw that he was too skilful and the only thing he could do to stop him was to foul him but what he didn’t see was that they were in the penalty area. Siegel Knight (Pele) made no slip-up at the penalty area when he put the cherry on top and carefully placed the ball in the back of the net to make the game 2-1. After we thought that everything was going our way, Glenmuir got a penalty kick after a Clarendon College player handled the ball right in the penalty area. It was up to impressive goalie, Eric Edwards, who had the entire Chapelton on his shoulders. As the Glenmuir player ran up to kick the ball, God touched Eric and he made an impeccable and a heroic save to deny Glenmuir and ensure that Clarendon College got a spot in the finals of the Dacosta Cup and that match will be played next week Saturday the 29th of November at the Catherine Hall in Montego Bay against the mighty STETHS. So let’s go out and represent the boys as they bring the trophy to northern Clarendon on the hills of Chapelton where it really belongs.
