Well, well, well, for far too long, many have wondered who on earth would protect us from the police. Apparently, authorities in certain states are forcing police officers to wear mini-cameras in order to record every interaction a cop has with the public. The result so far? According to the Associated Press: "A year-long pilot program in Rialto, Calif., ended in February, and researchers there found the number of use-of-force incidents dropped by half. "The city of about 100,000 also had significantly fewer public complaints about police, dropping from 28 to just three. "In Arizona, Scottsdale police began using 10 body cameras about two months ago as the agency looks into equipping all of its roughly 250 patrol officers with the devices." So authorities are wondering whether these cameras should be instituted in New York as a solution to the Stop and Frisk. Of course many officers are pushing back, but it sounds like civilians finally will be able to hold police officers accountable when they abuse their authority. One example: "An officer was fired last month when investigators reviewed video from his body-mounted camera and found he was profane and abrasive during calls and traffic stops, calling one person "an idiot." Do you think all officers should be forced to wear them? Read the rest here: newsone/2677263/nyc-stop-and-frisk-cameras/
