Well were disappointed that the Water Bond passed, but certainly not surprised. It sounded good on the surface and voters who voted yes were probably under the mistaken impression that it was good water policy for California in a time of drought. The supporters of Prop 1 spent over $16 million while the opponents had less than $100,000. Statewide the measure passed with 66% in favor while in Butte County, the margin of victory was pretty slim: only 52% to 48%! Wed like to think we helped educate local voters about the reasons this water bond offers no solutions and that they understand it was a bad deal for the north state.
