Well, yesterday was a very fine day to be alive. When I left here last evening to head for our RENT CLUB show at Kulaks Woodshed, Our one-day-old fund-drive for Heifer International had nearly reached $500 - the cost of sending one young healthy dairy cow to a needy family in the developing world. We were just $35 away from that milestone. Well, I didnt know it then, but I was about to see a LOT more generosity. The show was really wonderful. So many of you came out to help support this little treasure of a listening-room, that there wasnt one empty seat. And did you guys give? Yeah ... I guess. By the time Dale LaDuke brought the evening to a gorgeous musical conclusion, you guys had come up with $800 and change. Amazing. And a few of you tossed in some hefty amounts. Youd never let me use your names here. So I wont specifically point to the bad-ass soul musician known to blow the roof off The Crest with his Strat, who slipped in late and stuck a Benjamin into the kitty. Nor will I expose the self-described harmony-whore with the sore leg, who not only sang last night but also left behind a $75 check. Nope. Ill respect your anonymity. :) Suffice it to say that rarely can a man be so thoroughly reminded of the sheer GOODNESS of his friends, as I was in the 24 hours of Saturday, December 13. Heck, even when I mentioned from stage that our Cows for Christmas drive was just short of a cow, the singer and the bassist from the John Zipperer band immediately emptied their pockets to help in THAT effort too. Thanks to all of you. What a spectacular bunch of humans you are. (with Dale LaDuke, Jime Van Booven, Barrett Tagliarino, Merritt Evan Raff, Jaynee Thorne, Michelle Zarlenga, Mackenzie Viventi, Ted Leplat, Andy Kenyon, Alexia Salvatierra, Dennis Miller, Haleila Alice Nusinow, Matt Carrico ...and way too many more to list)
