Well, yesterday was an up and down rollercoaster. I had my first double nerve block (occipital, back left of my head) and was pain free for the first time in about 2 years... Nerve block - lidocaine injected into several sites around the occipital nerve. The idea being that this would calm the nerve and allow some relief from inflammation which contributes to constant migraine headache. It felt weird as my head was numb (like getting numbed for a tooth filling) and I had no side effects, which was great. The longer the day/night went and anesthetic wore off, pain returned. Dr said this may not help at all or could last for weeks or a few months and we would just have to wait till the initial numbness wore off to see if there were any lasting benefits. So big bummer, no help for me. On a positive note, this was also diagnostic so that we know a large portion of my pain comes from that nerve cluster. What other alternatives are, dont know yet. Thanks for all the texts, calls, and prayers yesterday. Doing my best to keep positive outlook and definitely not giving up. God has a plan and purpose...
