Welldone Malala for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. The - TopicsExpress

Welldone Malala for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. The youngest ever and that too a Pakistani! The fact the she is a girl does not surprise me in the least, Pakistani women are cool like that. Aha, but... There is always a but, Gullu or otherwise... Broadly, two camps rights now. Some malign the girl, saying she is being used to present Pakistan in a bad light... And others are simply happy for her that she is doing what she is doing. Malala is famous and that confuses many. Conspiracies abound, because we associate fame with what have you done. Thats why Eidi is easier to digest for he had been doing stuff that no one does. But why Malala? Other girls were shot too!? Why arent they as famous? Like I said, we dont understand fame and how the PR machines work. But lets not go into the theories of fame right now... The fact that Malala has now become controversial is a sign of our own shallow thinking... It takes courage and depth to praise something or someone without holding back, may it be praising the chef or praising the weather. But shallow or not, Malalas courage is undeniable for me. The fact that she won the Nobel Peace Prize.. the Prize lost its nobility when it was awarded to the likes of Obama. Obama had President of US as the main, objective qualification. But yes, I am still happy... Because if your child wins a gold star at school, that doesnt mean much either... But you will be happy for your child nonetheless. Imagine a family where the Father rebukes the child, saying, but that gold star means freakin nothing! Will you want to live in such a hard family? Get a heart people. And No, she doesnt in the least represent the plight of Pakistani women. Women here are more respected, they were voting before the US got out of their darkage (!!), we have had a woman PM before... Most middle class families have women who are not only free to work if they choose, many of them work to pursue their interests and hobbies too, apart from contributing to the household income. Yes, I am happy for Malala. And I only wish I could share this pride with more people.
