Wendy Demeski asked, "My 10- and 11-year-old girls are very hands-on and love projects. They are very interested in learning how to live like they did in the pioneer days or older days and how some people live in other countries without electricity and water. "We have read all the Little House on the Prairie books along with the lapbooks, we have visited some pioneer museums, and we have watched every episode of LHOTP. I need some more ideas on how to expand it. "We do live on a small farm, so they take care of the animals and have even watched us skin a chicken and baby goats being born. "I am not a cook, but they would love to learn. If I could find an easy cookbook with lessons to follow, it would be great! We have even thought about building a small greenhouse to let them garden all year. "They want to know how people stored food without a fridge, how they sanitized water , etc., what these kids did for entertainment without computers lol, how to make soap. "They are so curious about all this that I want to use their curiosity and let them learn. "Is there a curriculum that has hands-on teaching about things like this? We did visit a global village that talked about it some, but not in depth. Thanks."
