Went down to Wal-Mart this afternoon to get myself a small - TopicsExpress

Went down to Wal-Mart this afternoon to get myself a small shop-vac that they advertised in Sundays paper. Got it for the motor home because I needed a small one that would do the job and wouldnt take up much room to store. Got it for $27. I tried it and it worked really good. While down there I met an older Korean War Veteran who was a survivor of the battle of Pork Chop Hill. His name is George Elgin and he was originally from Pendleton, SC, but has lived around the Anderson area for many years. Mr. Elgin served with the 2nd Infantry Division while in Korea. All the men that served in the Korean War really caught hell beating those Chinese and North Korean devils back across the 38 parallel. We lost thousands of men in that war and the enemy lost hundreds of thousands. Folks, let me remind you again, you dont have to leave this area to see monuments or heros. We have live ones still walking around among us at this time and you can touch and talk to one about any time you might want to. Ill bet you have a real live hero as a member of your family and dont even know it. If you have a veteran family member, ask them about their service. You might learn something.
