Went for an early one this morning in a quiet little system that never fails to produce,put in just before 4 am ,motored the 3 or 4 km to where we usually start and as the conditions were perfect we fully expecting to have an epic morning throwing surface lures. Between us we had 2 Sigletts,2 Scizz Poppers,1 Nutterjuck jitterbug style lure,a Sammy and a Dog-x Jr tied on so needless to say we had most surface options covered,unforunately no one told the fish they were supposed to be on the chew and apart from a 4 fish flurry at around 8 oclock on the green Scizz Popper we had an absolute shocker lol. Now its around 11 oclock and weve hit all our favourite haunts,thew the tackle box at them and hadnt had as much as a definite hit,it wasnt funny anymore so in frustration the pin was pulled and we headed home. We were back to where we launched by 11:30 so the decision was made to try and salvage the day by having a throw a little further down for Bream,Flathead,Whiting and maybe the odd EP. First throw with a Scizz Crank drew a couple of timid hits,next throw I was on to what felt like a little flathead so I was surprised when what I thought was a little EP came into view,then on closer inspection it was actually a Bass,uuuuuuuuum ok we put that down to a lost little fish then I kept getting timid little hits so I tied on a SMC40 in the green tiger just to show them something a little smaller profile with a much more subtle presentation ,this produced results straight away but again it was a little Bass,wed obviously cracked a bit of a pattern and landed another 16 very small Bass plus one lonely little Bream over the next hour or so,we werent complaining about the size as we were staring straight down the barrel of by far the worst session for us on this system,ever. It was a bit of an eye opener actually as neither of us had caught Bass here before,we assumed they come down with a bit of fresh water push from storms the night before.
