Went for tea at the pub with the twin and the kids yesterday. We all decided what we were having then off I went to order and pay. The guy on the bar took my order, disappeared for a few moments to pour our drinks, came back and said, Is that everything? to which I replied that it was. Ok, thats sorted. You have nothing to pay. Your food will be over shortly. I asked what he meant and he told me that there was a man at the other end of the bar that wanted to foot the bill. I walked to the other side of the pub to the man who delivered the gesture and asked him why had he paid, that I appreciate his offer but I cant accept it. I then gave him the money I was about to pay with and he wouldnt accept that. I asked him why had he done it and he said, Because every time I see you, you make me laugh and cheer me up so I just wanted to return the favour. By the time we had finished our meal, I went back to the bar to order him a drink and he had gone. Just thought I would share this story of a generous, selfless man. I thought it was lovely.
