Went into chapel to say private traditional Latin Mass for a special intention, by myself (so I thought) when an old friar-priest asked if he could hear my Mass. His memory is so bad that some days he refuses to say Mass or even concelebrate in the Ordinary Form because he gets so flustered about what he forgets or thinks he forgets, and so on. He was able to make the short responses (et cum spiritu tuo) from memory but the longer ones I had to do. And he received communion on the tongue, kneeling on the bare floor. I was thanking God for my priesthood that I was able to do that for him; and for this friars priesthood because he respects the Mass so much that he refuses to say It when he worries he most likely will not say It properly, through no fault of his own.
