Went on a call about a Double Door Reach In Upright Refrigerator/Freezer.... the call was : Fridge was not cold enough.... every time i had passed by the fridge it was always running and holding only 42 degrees temp. Found, two king pin service caps removed by someone who may possibly worked on it, and thought they were not important. They do leak, and introduced moisture into the lines, where the compressor does look like it had once been replaced. These caps prevent leaks, and the freon lines do need to be vacuumed to eliminate any moisture or non condensibles. Here is the Kicker, and a Perfect example of how a possible chain of events happens.... meaning, more than one issue; Moisture has caused this compressor to contaminate the entire refrigerant lines, because of compressing the moisture mixed with freon and compressor oil into an acid.... later to be create a condition like a cancer that grows , called an acid burnout. Yes, the Freon and Oil Stinks and starts browning. This system was vacuumed, and Service Caps will be Ordered. It will also need a new Cold Control which has been working on a Condition, where it is stuck closed , and why it was found on a low numbered position to be able to eventually shut off. when turned colder, the Fridge would only ice up, due to two conditions, low on Freon, and two the cold control sticking on if turned colder. And School is in Recess.
